Dip Nursing, Dip Midwifery, Grad Dip (Mental Health Nursing)
Joanne completed her initial nursing qualifications in 1981 in her home country, Zimbabwe. After working there and then in Malawi she eventually migrated to Australia in 2003.
Joanne has worked in virtually every field that nursing offers and as she puts it, “I’m really passionate about nursing and after 40 years in the profession I can say that there is no other career I’d rather have followed.”
She is particularly keen on care plan and health assessments because they fit well with her interest in chronic disease management and her desire to work in partnership with patients to help them reach their health goals.
Joanne observed that “it’s very refreshing to be in an environment where the doctors are excellent, everyone is so supportive and welcoming within a strong team environment”.
Outside of work Joanne is a keen member of a gospel choir, maintains a rich orchid collection and works with a wildlife rescue group in her Diamond Creek community.
